Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toni Gonzalez-Collins is an American-Mexican sportscaster. Her current role is working as a sportscaster at ESPN who is also an anchor of SportsCenter as well as hosting SportsNation. She began working for ESPN as a news anchor in the year 2016. Her mother is the TV reporter Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta is bilingual since the age of nine. Her skills were instrumental in securing her first job as a an assistant to the production team at Univision Miami and Univision Miami, where she assisted the production of programs including Nuestra Belleza Latina and Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud. The CBS affiliate in St. Petersburg hired her after this as a sports reporter. She moved in 2009 into Rio Grande Valley, Texas for work as an investigative reporter for the Spanish channel KNVO TV 48 Univision and Fox2 News. The stories she wrote about covered immigration, drug trafficking, and other issues on both the Texas and Mexico border. She was also the Spanish reporter at the newscast from 5 p.m. as well as anchor and reporter for the newscast of nine p.m. in English and again also a Spanish reporter for 10 p.m. Also, she was often requested to fill in as a sports and weather anchor. Then she became the anchor and reporter for Univision Dallas' Deportes 23. In the following years, she was given more responsibility. She covered the Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series and Dallas Cowboys, NBA postseason, Finals FC Dallas as well the Dallas Stars. Apart from that, she also hosted and produced Univision 23's Accion Deportiva Extra local sports show. She worked as the sports anchor of Despierta America Deportes morning show. She worked in the same role for Primer Impacto on UniMas Network as well as Contacto Deportivo for its magazine show. Antonietta Collins' parents are originally from Veracruz Mexico. Eventually, they settled in Mexico City and she was born there on November 22, 1985. Also, she has an older sister. She has an older sister. After a short time, her father separated from her mother and she then remarried in 1995 a naval architect whose name was Fabio Fajardo. Fabio Fajardo died of kidney cancer in the year 2006. On a trip, Antonietta stayed at her sister's house in Canton Ohio. Her older Collins brother had recently been offered a new job. At the time of her senior year in high school but with a clear idea about what she wanted to pursue with her life Antonietta was able to visit at the University of Mount Union to examine if it was a good fit for her requirements. As it turned out she was a fan of the university and that they had the major she was looking for. After graduation, she went to the University as a media studies major. Mark Bergmann - her professor - was also the director of WRMU (91.1 FM) in which she was a part of. He encouraged her to be self-confident and also his love for journalism deeply influenced her. She, in turn, strived to fulfill the expectations of him and not failed him.
