Hilary Swank
Hilary Swank was an American actress who received awards for performances in films such as "Boys Don't Cry" as well as "Million Dollar Baby". The recipient of Academy Award for Best Actress twice, this accomplished actress is open to experimenting with roles and does not shy away performing characters with no glamor. The passion for acting was evident from her childhood, when at the age of 8 she announced to her family members that she was going to be an actor. Amidst a difficult childhood, as well as a rough life, her story is an example of someone who is able to rise above the challenges and achieve success. As a teenager she would get lost in the fantasy films and books so that she could escape from the tense domestic world. She was a pro at the gymnastics, swimming and theater at school. The family moved out of New York Los Angeles at the age of 16 and pursued an acting career. Her film debut was in the minor character "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". She's appeared various other roles in films. Her biggest breakthrough came when she won the role of "The next Karate Kid" which was a character for which many other actresses also were competing. Swank is, in addition to acting in films, has also appeared on several television show.
